Overview:
This project involved leading the launch of Xavier University of Louisiana’s mobile COVID-19 health screening tool, developed during the height of the pandemic to support a phased return to campus. The app allowed students, faculty, and staff to complete daily self-assessments before entering campus buildings.
My Role:
As the university’s mobile app administrator, I led the project and collaborated with internal and external teams to ensure timely delivery. I designed the on-screen assessment interface, configured authentication logic, handled testing, and coordinated integration within the broader university app. I also diagnosed and resolved a critical authentication issue using knowledge from previous Modo platform training and direct collaboration with vendor support.
Key Features:
-
Integrated health screening assessment
-
Persona-based authentication and access
-
Instant “cleared to enter” or denial messaging
-
Results display for entry verification
-
Mobile-first layout and accessibility-conscious design
Platform: Built using the Modo platform with custom layout and persona logic configuration.
Outcome:
The app launched campus-wide in mid-2020 and was used by over 3,000 staff and students daily. Its success helped support safe operations during the pandemic and directly led to the approval of a second major project — combining the university intranet and mobile app into one unified platform entitled "MyXULA".
