Xavier University of Louisiana – ‘Campus’ Platform Implementation

Overview

In 2021, Xavier University of Louisiana launched a new digital experience to unify its intranet portal and mobile app into one centralized, responsive platform. The goal was to reduce confusion caused by duplicate content across systems, improve mobile usability, and provide students and staff with enhanced, modern communication tools and real-time access to campus resources.

My Role

As the Content Specialist at the time, I co-led the project alongside the university’s web master. The idea to unify systems originated from my observation that information was being updated in some places but not others, compromising integrity and consistency across campus communications. While the web master focused on vendor coordination and overall project management, I was responsible for layout configuration, stakeholder communication, staff training, testing, and creating department page designs for the new environment.

Outcome

The unified portal successfully launched mid-2021 to over 3,000 users, improving collaboration, load times, and the overall mobile experience. The platform received high praise from staff and students alike, including a 5-star rating in the app store. The project also led to a promotion, reflecting my impact in both execution and leadership on the implementation team.
